Now that Christmas is pretty much over, I am on to thinking about the new year. . . In one week, on January 1, it will mark two years since the birth of Calculated Chaos. Craziness! It has been light & dark. . . A post-a-day to nothing for months. . . My online journal of sorts. It has to be odd to actually be a follower of this craziness. . . But, for those of you that have found me in my little corner of the cyber world, I thank you for sticking around. . .

It's been highly therapeutic for me. . . Not only in the form of having an outlet for the craziness that takes over my brain, but also for the friends that I have made or become closer to as a result of this blog. . .Β

I am not usually one for New Year Resolutions, but my very first post here was titled “New Year Exception?” I am thinking it is because, that year, in particular, I didn't make my plans for the next year on my birthday, as I usually attempt to do. . . Most people view January 1 as the start of their new year & an opportunity to re-evaluate their way of life & make new goals for the next year. I, on the other hand, use my birthday on November 16 to do just that. . . I find that it serves me well because by the time January 1 rolls around, I have digested any major changes properly & have either set them into motion or am prepared to set them into motion & make them be known, along with the rest of the world.

Two years ago, my New Years' Resolutions consisted of things like finding a job that I actually love, getting my finances in order, continuing to build a relationship with my sons, Β & finding an outlet in terms of writing. . . For the most part, I'd say I have succeeded. I am thankful that the handsome husband is so supportive to allow me to leave the workforce to get my degree so that (hopefully) I can have better choices in the way I choose to earn a living. Part of that choice is to pursue a degree in finance, which will not only aid me in earning a living, but also in managing my own finances, along with equipping me with the knowledge to help my friends & family & community in that area. Plus, this blog has proved to be the writing outlet I was seeking. . .

As for my sons. . . Well, I will have to muster up the courage to write about that in more detail in the not-so-distant future, eh? I find that one's viewpoint changes over time. . . & while the circumstances, themselves, might not have changed, by changing one's perspective, it can make all the difference in the world. . . That is what I am trying to tell myself, anyway. πŸ˜‰

This year, I started early with 101 in 1001, which I have already had the pleasure of marking a few things as accomplished. . . & I look forward to marking off a few more over the weeks & months to come. . . But, that is another post entirely. (So, if you're curious, be sure to check back to that page by clicking the link, because I do update it from time to time.)

With all of that said, I am thankful for Calculated Chaos. . . & the encouragement I received from the handsome husband & my dear friend Khai (of Bargain Basement Foodie & Duffel Bag & a Dream) to start this journey. . . & all the friends I have made along it, (in particular, Lizzi of Considerings comes to mind). . . & the friends that encourage me as I go through it, (my Jenn is always asking when my next post will come). . .

It should be interesting what the next year or two shall bring, eh?

  1. OOooooooh a BLOGAVERSARY! They’re always fun πŸ™‚ I’m glad you have this place, and I’m immensely glad that you invited me over for coffee here, that one time. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know you through your writing, and I’m always pleased to hear when things are going well…but I like the way you use this place in such a similar way to the manner I use mine – to untangle the inner world and put it into a more comprehensible framework.

YAY! πŸ™‚ Happy Two Years, and may there be many more to celebrate πŸ™‚

(You owe no-one your writing, except yourself, if you wish it.)
((Forgot what I was gonna say here – pretty sure it was profound…))
(((Oh and some FUN as well – you use here for FUN sometimes, too, and that’s always nice)))
((((Yaknow what, if I remember what I meant to say, I’ll come back. Not sure I’m awake yet…))))

    1. I am REALLY glad too! (About the coffee date & this blog & YOU!) It is comforting to know I am not the only one who over-shares on the Web. . . . & I do appreciate the reminder that I don’t OWE anyone my writing. . . It is easy to get caught up in that a bit. . . But, at the same time, it is motivating to know that SOMEONE cares about what I put on here, ya know? πŸ˜‰ LOL

      1. It’s a fine line, sometimes, I think, between what you (and by ‘you’, I mean mostly ME) feel the need to share in order to maintain integrity, what might be an over-share, and what should probably be kept private. I know I don’t always get the balance right.

But it does matter, and I’m GLAD to know you, and that you DO put your thoughts on your blog πŸ™‚

        1. It really is, Lizzi! (A fine line, I mean. . . ) I didn’t mean to say that I thought YOU over-share (because I don’t). I did mean to say exactly what you just said: that it IS a fine line sometimes & it is hard sometimes to know where it is. . . I know i need to share, but it is hard to decide when I’ve shared enough (or not quite enough!) to serve my purpose. . . I want to share so much more than I do, but I am afraid. . . Afraid that I will over-share for me, afraid that I will over-share something that is not just mine to share (the handsome husband & other friends & family that I am close to). . . You get the idea. πŸ˜‰

    1. I don’t remember when I started doing this, but it has served me well. . . Besides, it’s different. Why do the same worn out things at the same time as everyone else in the world? LOL. πŸ˜‰
